Josh Shader '95

Josh Shader is a talent-friendly independent producer focused on from-scratch development of feature film, television, and digital projects. Recently, Josh served as co-executive producer on Starz’s first unscripted series, “The Chair.” As part of the Television Critics Association and DGA Award winning show, Josh produced two feature films, “Hollidaysburg” and “Not Cool,” both of which were based on a script he developed. He is currently working with series creator, Chris Moore, on financing season 2 of “The Chair” in China, exploring how different cultures tell stories. In addition, Josh is producing “Nude,” a documentary feature film for Starz, and prepping the 10-episode limited television series “Black Dahlia,” based on the best-selling nonfiction book by John Gilmore about the investigation and murder of Elizabeth Short in 1947.

Previously, Josh was co-creator and executive producer of “Think Tank,” A&E’s first digital series. He also served as executive producer on the feature comedy “Flock of Dudes.” Additionally, Josh was a producer on the Alec Baldwin and Kate Hudson comedy, “My Best Friend’s Girl” for Lionsgate, as well as the Screen Gems comedy “Mardi Gras,” starring Josh Gad. These projects were all developed from scratch by Josh, and on all, the original writers stayed on from start to finish.

Early in his career, Josh served as the associate producer on Universal’s “American Wedding” and executive producer on the documentary “American Pie: Revealed.” In 2003, Josh partnered with Adam Herz (creator of the “American Pie” franchise) to form Terra Firma Films, a Universal-based production company. While at Terra Firma and since, Josh Shader has generated and sold projects to Fox, Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros, Sony, Lionsgate, Weinstein, MTV Films, A&E Network, Starz, and Goldenpeak Entertainment.

Josh is a native of Winter Park, Fla., and graduated from Trinity Prep in ‘95. He then went on to graduate from Northwestern University in ‘99. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three sons.
