Advisory Program

The goals of the advisory program are twofold. First is the facilitation of the student’s progress at Trinity. The adviser will monitor the student’s progress regularly through individual as well as group meetings. He/she will also act as an advocate for the student whenever necessary. The second is the creation of a channel of communication between school and home. The adviser becomes the first point of contact between home and school and is the "clearinghouse" for information regarding the student. The adviser should know the student better than any other adult on campus.
Students are assigned advisers by the Guidance Counselor. In Middle School the advisories are single sex and change each year. In Upper School the advisories are coed. Ninth graders are assigned to ninth grade teachers. Tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders stay in the same advisory group for three years. This helps the bond grow between adviser and student and allows the adviser to get to know each student well.
Advisers and students meet daily in homeroom for four minutes, with an extended period of twenty minutes on Thursdays. The adviser meets individually at least twice each semester with each student. During these meetings academic and personal goals, social issues, extracurricular activities, and college planning are discussed.
