Ask the Director

I am excited to share news with you in this blog format and would love to hear from you if you have a question about admission to Trinity Prep.

Over the Summer!

Summer is a time for all of us at school to renew.  This includes the students.  Yes, they have summer reading requirements, but we strongly recommend that you give them a break before they start their summer reading.  Good readers can wait until mid July to begin so that it is fresh in their minds when they arrive on the first day of school.  Students who read more slowly might want to break up the reading into manageable bites with a review of the books before school begins.  Have a great, fun summer.  See you soon!

How do we select our students?

Families often worry about if the ISEE test is the only criteria that plays a role in our decision to admit a student.  In fact, a committee of faculty and administrators reviews the completed file for all applicants and makes a recommendation based on how the student performs in the classroom, his or her passions and strengths, and how he or she might fit within our community of learners. The ISEE is only one small piece of the puzzle and typically not the most important piece.

Open House format

If you are wondering if you should bring your student to an open house, our answer would be yes if they know nothing about Trinity Prep.  The open house is geared more to a parent level, but a student can gain insight into the school from an open house event.  We show two short videos, the headmaster and I spend a few minutes talking about the school and the application process and then you have an hour long tour of the campus with a couple of classroom visits included.

Keep in mind that we allow students who apply to the school to spend 1/2 a day shadowing a current student.  This is typically the perspective that they value the most where they can attend classes, have lunch in the Grille, and talk with other students.

Passwords

Glad you like the idea.  Here's a tip for passwords.  We use multiple resources to gather your information including Infosnap, which drives your application to our database.  I recommend you use the same password for the blog as you use for Infosnap.  Everything Trinity Prep will be easy for you to navigate.  If different criteria are necessary in creating your password for Infosnap and for the blog, just make a simple and memorable modification to a pattern that you use for Infosnap.
