For many students, writing a novel seems like an impossible task in adulthood. Trinity Prep’s Author Fest exists to show students that it’s possible to pursue writing passions and share their creativity through literature. Our Saints get the opportunity to engage in conversations with authors that bring literature to life. Talking with YA fiction’s most popular and successful authors provides students with unique insights, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for the written word.

Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Reality

When any student gets to interact with a field expert, they have an opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application of that information! Authors, with their firsthand experience in crafting narratives, can offer a behind-the-scenes look at the writing process. This personal touch transforms literature from a mere academic subject to a vibrant, living entity that resonates with our Saints on a personal level.

Inspiration and Aspiration

For students who love writing, meeting with published authors can be a powerful way to show them that it’s possible to achieve their dreams. It's a chance for students to witness the tangible results of passion, dedication, and perseverance in publishing. AuthorFest sparks creativity and instills a sense of aspiration as students envision themselves as potential authors!

Understanding Diverse Perspectives

Published authors often bring diverse perspectives and life experiences into their works. This year, we’re proud to have New York Times best selling author Nic Stone — author of Dear Martin, Clean Getaway, and Fast Pitch – to discuss her experience in writing and why different voices are critical to read. This exposure to diverse perspectives fosters empathy, broadens horizons, and cultivates a nuanced understanding of the world, all of which are essential for well-rounded Saints.

Navigating the Publishing Industry

For students aspiring to pursue a career in writing or publishing, conversations with published authors offer valuable insights into how difficult the industry can be. From pitching to partnering with agencies, these practical dialogues provide a roadmap for students aspiring to make their mark in the literary world.

Building Confidence and Communication Skills

Interacting with published authors also contributes to the development of students' confidence and communication skills. Engaging in thoughtful conversations with accomplished writers encourages students to articulate their thoughts, ask meaningful questions, and express their opinions. We know the development of these soft skills benefit students even if they’re not interested in pursuing creative fields.

Events like Author Fest are an investment in the holistic development of individuals, fostering a love for storytelling, inspiring creativity, promoting empathy, and providing valuable insights for those aspiring to navigate the world of literature. We’d love to have the community join us as we celebrate AuthorFest! You can register for our virtual options and in-person event here.
