The halls of the Wyndham Orlando Resort resonated with echoes of ancient tongues as middle and high schools from across Florida descended on the 2024 State Latin Forum. Students took part in a variety of academic, visual, and performing arts, and Certamen tests. Three days of intellectual competition and teamwork ensued, showcasing the hard work and determination of participants statewide, including Trinity Prep’s 36 upper school and 8 middle school Latin students.
Highlights abounded: Riya C. ’25 and Sallee R. ’25 ascended to leadership in the Florida Junior Classical League, while our Certamen Intermediate Team of Ashwin A. ’27, Hunter L. ’27, Sammy L. ’26, and Nathan L. ’27 clinched bronze. Not to be outdone, individual triumphs punctuated the event: Nikolas P. ’25 conquered geography, placing first; Sasha M. ’25 captured first place with dramatic interpretation;, and Ashwin A. ’27, Liam J. ’27, and Philip B. ’28 demonstrated mastery in grammar, literature, and history respectively.
In addition to their triumphs at the state level, Trinity Prep Latin students excelled on the 2024 National Latin Exam. Joined by almost 100,000 other students from all 50 states and 26 foreign countries, students brought back an additional 35 medals and certificates to finish a successful 2024-25 school year. With their accolades, Saints continue to demonstrate the spirits of inquiry and excellence, carrying the torch of scholarship and pride.
