Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival recently chose 12 plays by playwrights aged 16-19 from nine different states, and one of those 12 playwrights is Trinity Preparatory School junior Isabel Tongson.
Isabel's play "A House With a Broken Swing" will be produced in Los Angeles, California, in the summer of 2021.
The Blank Theatre's Annual Festival gives young people a chance to have their unique voices heard in a professional setting and gives audiences a glimpse into these young hearts and minds — as well as the thrill of seeing future Pulitzer Prize Finalists and Broadway librettists in their first professional productions.
For the last 28 years, the Blank Theatre has produced 345 plays by these high school-aged writers. The plays are crafted by seasoned professional directors and each is given several public performances in a month-long Festival. The 12 winning plays are professionally produced for weekend-long runs.
Along with the fantastic honor of her playwright being selected, Isabel is also featured in noteworthy Arts' publications. She was recently highlighted in Broadway World for her winning play.
