Andrew Cox '05
Andrew Cox earned a total of 10 varsity letters as a member of our football, basketball, and baseball teams. Playing multiple positions in football, including guard, defensive end, and linebacker (named to Third Team All-State as a freshman), Andrew became the quarterback in his senior year. He played in the 2004 Central Florida All-Star Game, was a finalist for the 2005 Downtown Orlando Athletic Club Scholar-Athlete Award, and was awarded the 2005 Joe Braddy Memorial Coaches’ Leadership Award at Trinity Prep. With Andrew as pitcher and shortstop, the baseball team won three district championships in his four-year career. Andrew was awarded the George Austin Memorial Leadership Award in 2004 and was named The Trinity Prep Male Athlete of the Year in 2005.
Andrew continued his athletic career at the University of Mary Washington, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. He was selected to First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference (2008, 2009), Virginia Sports Information Directors All-Academic Team (2008, 2009), the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Team (2008, 2009), and the “ESPN The Magazine” Academic All-District First Team (2009). The University of Mary Washington named him the male Scholar-Athlete in 2009, and Andrew was named team captain his senior year in college
