James Elton Moye Jr. ’06
James earned a total of seven varsity letters as a member of our tennis team. In his seven years on the tennis team, he won five district championships and three regional championships in singles. He played on four district and three regional champion teams. Those teams played in four state tournaments, finishing fifth in 2006. James played in the finals of the state doubles tournament in 2004 and in the semi-finals of the state singles tournament in 2005. He was selected to the Orange County Second Team in 2003. In 2004 and 2005, he was on the All-Central-Florida First Team, named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2003, and named Orange County Player of the Year in 2005. In 2006, James was named All-Central-Florida Player of the Year and Orange County Player of the Year.
James continued his athletic career at Vanderbilt University, playing on their men’s tennis team from 2006 to 2010. During the summer of 2008, he played on the Futures Tour in four European countries and in the Music City Challenger the next year.
