Ryan Truchelut '04
Ryan Truchelut graduated from Trinity Prep in 2004. He lettered in cross country every year from 1998 to 2003 and in track from 1999 to 2004. During his high school athletic career, he was state champion in 4x800m relay in 2002 and 2003; state runner-up in 2004; a regional champion every year from 2002 to 2004; and district champion from 2002 to 2004. He was a scoring member of three regional champion cross country teams in 1999, 2000, and 2003; four district champion cross country teams in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2003; and three regional champion track teams in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He was Trinity’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004 and captain of both the cross country and track teams. He held the Trinity record for 800m from 2003 to 2005 and for the 4x800m from 2002 to 2007.
Ryan graduated summa cum laude from Princeton with a B.A. in geosciences. As a surprise to no one who knows him, he holds both master’s and doctoral degrees in meteorology from Florida State University. He has written weather analysis for the Washington Post, USA Today, and Bloomberg News and is co-founder of the weather consulting firm, Weather Tiger. Ryan, his wife, Dr. Erica Staehling, and their son Isaac live in Tallahassee. Their current goal is to climb to the highest point in every state and are up to 23.
