Anne Juergens

Anne Juergens started working at Trinity Prep the year it opened in 1968. She taught here for just under 20 years and said, “It was a great, wonderful, and exciting time.” Mrs. Juergens attended Bennington College where she majored in theater. She taught, performed, and directed at Rollins College, where her husband, Robert Juergens, was the head of the theater department.

Through her connections to Rollins, she was not only able to bring theatrical resources onto the Trinity campus that were unavailable even at established local high schools, but she also was able to “pull off” putting on the first plays: “Christmas in the Marketplace” and “The Other Wise Man.” More importantly, however, she brought a professional viewpoint and an expectation of excellence to the fledgling program even though the facilities were, at best, primitive: a small room with about 80 seats at the end of the Stuart Building. She molded actors, technical crews, and artists into competent, credible performers. Many of her students went on to study theater in college, and some took their talents to another (sometimes professional) level.

Under her tutelage, students learned to express themselves with greater confidence and poise which not only showed in the arts, but paid dividends in other fields as well. She even found time to take her students up to New York to see Broadway plays. For Trinity Prep, Anne Juergens was the very foundation upon which our prestigious drama program has been built. All four of her children graduated from Trinity Prep.
