Rassan Grant '00

Rassan Grant was a two-time varsity letterman in swimming under Coach Mitch Ivy. During his two years at Trinity, he broke both the pool and team records in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke, and was ranked third nationally across all high schools in the 100 Breast. He capped his high school career by breaking Florida state records in both events, with several of his marks still standing on the pool boards today.

At Harvard University from 2000 to 2004, Rassan swam as the lead breaststroker for all four seasons. He was a six-time Harvard record holder, four-time All-Ivy League record holder, and the recipient of the prestigious Ulen Award, given to the senior who best demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship, and team cooperation. He was also named Academic All-American junior and senior years, graduated with honors in 2004, and at his final NCAA meet finished with the seventh-fastest 100-meter breaststroke time in the world that year (for short course meters, age 20). He twice qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials, in 2000 and 2004, reaching the pinnacle of his competitive swimming career.

Beyond athletics, Rassan completed a two-year solo journey around the world after college and before launching his first business at the age of 21, a venture that continues today and has allowed him to pursue his personal passion of traveling the world and experiencing new cultures.

Rassan and his wife, Laurel, met in New York City, and the two were married over New Year’s in Mexico in 2016. They now live in Winter Park with their children, Ruby (7) and Reid (5), who have picked up swimming like their dad.
