Trip InfoGallerySpring Break 2019

Mrs. Walker is taking students on a private, custom tour to Ireland and England, for eleven days over Spring Break 2019. Our adventure starts in Ireland, where we will see some of the most spectacular and breathtaking views on this planet; the Cliffs of Moher, where the famous cave scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was filmed; the scenic Ring of Kerry; and the amazing beach of hexagonal columns and stepping stones that make up the Giant’s Causeway . We will be in Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day to enjoy the parades and festivities! We are also going to Belfast, where we will enjoy a walking tour about the “Troubles” in Ireland. We will take an overnight ferry from Belfast to Liverpool, where we will tour The Beatles Story museum. Then it’s off on the train to London. We will see all of London - the Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Notting Hill and Kensington, the list goes on and on. Plenty of free time in London allows us to visit and explore the street markets, restaurants, shops, theater, who knows, maybe even a Premier League game! View the itinerary and email Mrs. Walker at for more details.

Greece & the Aegean

Summer 2019

Nikos Kazantzakis wrote, “Happy is the man, I thought, who, before dying, has the good fortune to sail the Aegean Sea.” In June, William Milsten will be leading a student trip to Greece and the Aegean Sea. This fourteen day tour is private and customized; we will only travel with Trinity Prep students, and will not share busses, hotels, and dinners with students from other high schools. The trip, Mr. Milsten’s sixth taking TPS students to Greece, was planned, every detail, by Mr. Milsten in coordination with and through the advice of his tour guide friends in Greece. Click here to see a video of TPS students highlighting the places we will visit.

The students will discover thaumazo, (Θαυμάζω) meaning ‘to wonder,’ ‘to be astonished,’ as they begin their trip exploring Athens. In Athens the noisy bustle of the Plaka will provide the backdrop to our climb up to the top of the Acropolis where we will visit the Temple to Athena, the Parthenon. We will explore the Temple of Zeus, Olympic Stadium, the Archeological museum. Mount Likavitos will provide the students with an unmatched view of Athens at night, a view of the Acropolis from above, surrounded by the wine-dark Aegean. In Delphi a private guide will help the students to explore Greek religion and philosophy while walking through the ruins. The students will visit an Olive farm in the Amfissa Valley. In Meteora, the students will be guests in an active Orthodox monastery, situated on a perilous cliff. In Mykonos the students will enjoy the cool breezes of the Aegean as they walk amongst white-washed shops. In Samos they will find themselves, “listening to the rustle of their sail cloths and the gentle lapping of their oars… and lain alongside Pythagoras watching him study the myriad of triangles in the constellations twinkling above us.” In Patmos they will learn about St. John and his Apocalypse. They will go swimming in Rhodes, with Turkey in the background, but only after visiting the cliffside temples at Lindos. In Knossos in Crete, the student will walk the paths of the Minotaur and Theseus. Santorini’s, majestic cliffs will be reached only by donkey (or cable car), as the students find themselves precariously on the rim of an active volcano. The students will finish their journey with a dinner at the Temple of Poseidon, at Cape Sounion. “Place me on Sunium's marbled steep, where nothing, save the waves and I, may hear our mutual murmurs sweep…”

South Africa

Summer 2019

Cape Town is a coastal city in South Africa. It is the capital and primate city of the Western Cape province. It forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town is the oldest urban area in South Africa. Cape Town is not only a popular international tourist destination in South Africa, but Africa as a whole. This is due to its mild climate, natural setting, and well-developed infrastructure.

There will be two information sessions for you to learn more about the summer trip to Cape Town. If you and your student still be interested in traveling to Cape Town this summer, I invite you to join me at one of the information sessions.

  • Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. in the Kelly Kranze room
  • Thursday, October 4 at 3 p.m. in the Science Discovery Room in Brokaw

Please RSVP using this form.

Past Trips

In March of 2018, Mr. Milsten, Mrs. Walker, and Mr. McGimsey led 28 students on a historical and cultural tour of Japan. Beginning in the very modern and busy Tokyo, where they spent an afternoon with a Sumo wrestler, they filled their afternoons with exploration, and their evenings with delicious Japanese fare. The students traveled by speed train to Kyoto, finding it filled with Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, imperial palaces, and mystic gardens.

Southeast Asia

Students captured the sights of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam on this traveling photo workshop. In Cambodia, they shot bustling Phnom Penh, experienced the intricate temples of Angkor Wat, and stayed in a floating village homestay. In Vietnam, they toured the city of Hanoi and its surrounding villages. In Laos they explored the beautiful town of Luang Prabang, gave alms to monks, and rode elephants — all while practicing their skills with professional photographers.

The beauty of the Trinity Prep Istanbul trips lies in complete immersion. The students jump outside of tourist areas to eat with the Turks. Eating Iskender Kebob while sipping tea and listening to the call to prayer booming from hundreds of minarets surely reminds you that you aren't home. Turkish baths and eating baklava with every meal, all while enjoying the architecture of Byzantium and the Ottomans, are experiences that arrive once in a lifetime.
